"Still Life on a Table"

   I painted this still life just before Christmas. It was warm in the studio, but very cold outside. This time of the year brings its own magic: we remember our childhood, and we become children again. As everyone knows, this year - for the first time in many, many years, brought war and suffering to America.  For me - as for many of us - it brought back memories of World War II, when as a child; I experienced Forced Labor Camps, expulsion, and the loss of our beloved home. My wife and I are convinced, however, that America will come out of this war stronger and wiser then ever.   God bless America
